Plan 9 and Apache.... err huh?
After spending 5 pages meandering around the history of authentication frameworks, Paul Murphy ends up this lame LinuxWorld article with this conclusion: Apache has market share, Plan 9 has the technology. Got it?
The only people who fear Microsoft, and know they need single-signon, and have the dough to bankroll it are actively pursuing Liberty. I don't see the connection between Apache market share and the success of Plan9. I think the disconnect results from two major cliches the article is guilty of:
- open source must 'beat' MS to succeed, and
- technological superiority wins the day. (see "CORBA")
