freecache?

Someone on the slashdot rss+bt discussion mentioned

which looks like akamai-ish geographic load balancing, except that it's free, and it has some connection with Alexa. I'll have to dig into what Andrew's done a little more, but if his rss+bt requires a central server to host the media files I wonder if using something like freecache as non-persistent large file storage would make things a lot easier to set up? (This is architecturally similar to what bitTorrent's conceptual parent, mojonation, accomplished.)
