Oracle is now distributing pre-installed, pre-configured Oracle-on-Linux VMWare images for Windows. Perhaps the end of installing COTS server software is getting closer?
Having just been through an Exchange+Domain Controller install gauntlet, it occurred to me that it would be nice if Microsoft followed suit for some of their server software. You *know* they build VirtualPC images for their internal test labs. Sharing them with the rest of the world seems like it could solve a lot of problems without much investment. Want to know what a locked down, best practices (domain controller|Exchange Server|CRM|Sharepoint|etc) system looks like? Download it here!
